Question:
Has anyone gone to the Institute in California? What did you
learn? Was it helpful? Did you find relief from panic/anxiety?
Answer:
Honestly, the PDI is one of the best places in the world
to seek consultations and treatment for panic disorders.
They are familiar with the full psychological and medical
spectrum of such disorders, and the doctors really
understand what the patients are going through.
There's a Psychiatric Research Institute here in my city (I don't live in
California). Sheldon Preskorn (He and my pdoc are friends.) lives here. In
fact, that's how I first found out that I had panic disorder. It was when
they were doing a trial for depression. I thought that I was depressed; they
told me then that I had PD..
If you mean the Panic Disorder Institute attached to the Good Samaritan Hospital in
LA, and of which Stuart Shipko (who posts here from time to time) is the director,
you might want to go to their website where there is a lot of information, a short
discussion of Shipko's theories about PD and a very interesting Bulletin Board
which is well worth checking out. I don't know the URL off the top of my head. You
can also find a link in the ASAP-FAQ I guess and on Arthur's website.
