Has anyone else who has visited this site felt that it lacks
the information about increased anxiety following SSRI use,
which we are so often assured is 'freely available'?
I noticed the same thing when looking through the detailed information
they provide on Paxil, but no mention of "hightened" anxiety for anxiety
patients when beginning on the med. In another thread, actually in a reply
to you, I made mention of what I thought a good tactic, in this regard.
I'm pasting what I said there, here, as it may be good to repeat, as it's
"on topic" to this thread.
Following my comments about site, I have received the following
as an e-mail and have been asked to post it but to do so
anonymously.
I had missed these comments and can only say just how much I
agree with the author's sentiments.
I've been an avid lurker on ASAP for year or so, and went
through 5 years of panic hell before I got help. Alprazolam
gave me my life back, so to speak, so when I checked out this
web page, this part really freaked me out:
treatment > of depression as well as panic disorder. Paxil has not been
systematically > studied in animals or humans for its potential for abuse or
physical > dependence. However, in clinical trials Paxil has not been
associated with the > development of dependence, and Paxil is not a
controlled substance.
The Phrase "benzodiazepine tranquilizer alprazolam", with the inclusion
of the word "tranquilizer", and all of it's negative conotations, just
seems like outright scare tactics. As is the rest of the paragraph,
especially the "controlled substance" phrase, read: "If you use this, you
are a drug addict"
