Question:
I sure hope someone out there can help me. After having my thyroid removed due
to cancer I started having panic attacks. I have been on my synthroid for
about 3 weeks now. Is it true that going hypo can mimic panic disorder, or am
I doomed to panic disorder the rest of my life. I keep hoping as the synthroid
kicks in and brings be back to the living I can kick the panic attacks out the
door. Any advice or help would be muchly appreciated.
Answer:
I suffered panic disorder for 20 years, used antidepressants xanax, also I
was advised it had nothing to do with hormones. Thank goodness for a
computer. I now take 2grains Naturethroid (natural thyroid), DHEA and
progesterone cream. Do not need other meds. Perhaps a change to a natural
thyroid would help, or you have not reached the optimal dose yet.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about thyroid cancer - I have
hyperthyroidism. I notice from another posting from you that you also
have shakes and tremors. I am wondering if the operation has
temporarily disturbed your thyroid gland so that it has increased its
output of thyroid hormones, making you hyper for a while.
I hope your doctor is keeping a close eye on you!
