Question:
Also before the famous encounter with the Hungary & great (at the time)
Tyson ,in the lead up to the fight he was claiming that *someone* w3as
trying to poison his food??........on reflection i dont really think that
the young Tyson needed any help, remember the 3 knockdowns from the one
punch!! well it would have been 3 if Mills Lane had not caught him on the
ropes.
Answer:
Last night I was watching Tyson-Golota and I have both Bowe-Golota fights
on tape. I remember something Tommy Brooks who was Tyson/s trainer I believe
say something in regards to him thinking that Golota suffered from panic
attacks.
If this is true I think this is sad because it seemed character-wise Golota was
a pretty good person.
So lets give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was panic attacks
that led to him losing to Bowe, Tyson, and Lewis. I think for the Tyson fight
a case could be made that he had a panic attack and ran out of the ring. I
will not comment on the Grant fight because I did not see it, only heard about
it. As far as Lewis is concerned the fact he lost by knockout does not
surprise me although his behavior before the fight, such as missing or
vanishing seemed strange. As far as the Bowe fights are concerned all I have to
say to that is he had the skills to knock out Bowe twice and he fouled out. If
this is the result of panic attacks then thats fine but thats not an excuse for
fouling. no doubt he would have beaten Bowe both times without the panic attacks he
was simply a better boxer than the overrated Bowe
It actually would have been 4 if Mills Lane didn't hold him up. At least
that's how I remember it. Once from the Tyson punch, then he fell into the photographers against the
ring, then once again in the centre of the ring (that's three already). When
he finally got on his feet Mills Lane held on to him and only just managed
to stop him form falling a fourth time. Golotta was one sad case... here was a guy who was big, had some talent and
seemed to be poised as a legit contender - despite the DQs to Bowe (which a
lot of people attributed to some bad habits rather than being a "dirty
fighter" - he was kicking Bowe's ass - he had no need to be dirty).
Supposedly after the Bowe fights Golotta was training to "keep the punches
up".
I heard AFTER the Lewis fight about all the emotional instability issues, so
I don't know if they are true, how true they are or when they started. He
started a comeback and was on the verge of destroying Grant, but then gave
up after Grant rallied with a late round knock down.
